The Critical View of Safety Challenge

A SAGES Initiative

The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) is launching its inaugural biomedical data challenge to advance clinically meaningful solutions for assessing the Critical View of Safety (CVS) in laparoscopic cholecystectomy. This global initiative aims to generate a large annotated dataset and encourage researchers to compete in developing innovative AI algorithms for real-time CVS detection, potentially reducing surgeon workload and enhancing surgical safety. As a cornerstone for future laparoscopic cholecystectomy safety initiatives, this challenge is set to revolutionize the field by harnessing the power of AI-driven intraoperative assistance.
